Georgetown, Texas, established in 1848, is located in Williamson County and consists of only 22 square miles. Georgetown is located in the Hill Country region of Texas, on the edge of fertile farmland and the famous Texas ranch lands. Georgetown has grown to a population of 42,467 as of 2006, a remarkable increase of 47.9% since 2000.
The prestigious Southwestern University is located in Georgetown, Texas. In addition to the well known Methodist University, Georgetown is famous for its hiking and biking trails located by the North and South San Gabriel rivers.
