(Photo: CBS Austin)A day after charges were dismissed for two teenagers involved in the deadly 6th street shooting, the search continues for the 19-year-old wanted for the shooting death of a man who was visiting Austin.A murder warrant is out for De’Ondre Jermirris White. Interim APD Police Chief Joseph Chacon said through multiple witness interviews, ballistic evidence and video evidence, police know White is the one who fired a handgun and hit Douglas Kantor, a 25-year-old visiting Austin the weekend of June 12th.More than a dozen other people were injured in the shooting, some critically.Two teens were initially charged in connection with the shooting but those charges were dismissed on Tuesday.Two teens were initially charged in connection with the shooting but those charges were dismissed on Tuesday. Travis County Jose Garza said, “there is not sufficient evidence to proceed with the prosecution of either young man.”The focus of the investigation is now primarily on the person or people who are responsible for the injuries and death.Initially, one of the teens charged was a 15-year-old juvenile. The other was 17-year old Jeremiah Tabb.When asked if Tabb cooperated with police or prosecutors to get their charges dismissed, Attorney Jon Evans who represents Tabb said, “absolutely not.”Evans said Tabb was attending summer school in Killeen when he was arrested without incident by police and charged with aggravated assault in connection with the 6th street shooting. According to Evans, the 17-year-old does not have a criminal history and was attending summer school so he could get ahead before his senior year and balance work and school.“He told police from the beginning he was not the shooter on 6th street,” said Evans.RELATED: Charges dropped for two suspects in Downtown Austin mass shooting, third suspect revealedInterim Chief Chacon said the two teens “were involved” and the teens were “not people who were innocent bystanders or were somehow incorrectly identified as being involved.” DA Garza said his office “has not made final charges with respect to either young man.”CBS Austin asked Tabb if the teens involved in the shooting should still be held accountable. Chacon said the teens drew their weapons but police don’t have evidence if they fired any shots.Tabb responded saying in part, “that’s a dumb question. I’m not going to even dignify that with a response.”According to Tabb’s arrest affidavit, Tabb was accused of shooting another teen in the leg days before the 6th street shooting. The shooting was the result of an argument between two groups of people from Killeen, according to police.Not associated with the 6th street shooting, attorney Perry Minton said “if you got people that were involved, you would hold them and you would charge them. You’d make those negotiations depending on what they can offer during the pendency of the investigation. To drop (the charges) all together is unusual.”Anyone with information about where White may be is urged to call 911 or anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477."},{"@context":"https://schema.org/","@type":"BreadcrumbList
@type":"ListItem
{"@type":"ListItem
He Was Not the 6th Street Shooter’ Says Attorney for Teen Whose Charges Were Dismissed
https://www.mbfc.com/blog/he-was-not-the-6th-street-shooter-says-attorney-for-teen-whose-charges-were-dismissed/#breadcrumbitem"}]}]
